School Seminar Held to Prevent Bullying

Bullying is one of the problems that students encounter in school. The act of bullying can lead to serious issues and affect students' mental health. It not only affects them mentally but also physically, depending on the type of bullying. To prevent and reduce bullying, a seminar was held on Thursday, October 26th, at Tarakanita Gading Serpong Senior High School.

This seminar was presented by Yuventia Tunda Reka Anggita, S.Psi., M.Sc., or affectionately known as "Kak Tunda." It began with a small ice-breaking session involving dancing and singing together. When the seminar officially started, Kak Tunda discussed various types of bullying, such as traditional and cyberbullying, and provided examples of each. She also explained the effects of bullying on mental and physical well-being.

After Kak Tunda covered all the topics, there was one final activity before heading home. Students formed circles within their respective classes and analyzed specific cases to determine if they were instances of bullying or simply misunderstandings. The 10th, 11th, and 12th graders were assigned different cases to analyze, and numerous possibilities were explored. Additionally, each class was tasked with creating a quote to combat bullying. Following this, some classes presented their findings and the results of their analyses.

In conclusion, this seminar proved to be a helpful initiative in preventing and addressing bullying, whether it occurs in the traditional or cyber context within our school community. (Isaura Tashi C)

This is a great way to tackle such incidents at school, by teaching the students about bullying, so they could be more considerate about what to say or do. And I think this should be done to younger students as well, so they can become good people once they grow up. I hope events and seminars like this can be held more often at more schools.
