Technical Meeting, for Our Live In!

Today, the 10th graders of our school were invited to gather in the Auditorium on the 4th floor. It was the last 2 class periods of this week, Friday the 2nd February 2024 to be exact, and students were expecting another Pendidikan Karakter Tarakanita (PKT) class. We weren’t told what we were meeting for. After a few minutes, the students settled down, most of us noticed the title of the Presentation title up front.

‘Ketentuan Teknis – Live In 2024’ was displayed in big bold blue. Starting with an opening from Pak Agus reminding us what Live In means and what we aim to learn from this activity. As well as reminding us to continue strengthening ourselves physically and mentally, anticipating a big adventure ahead of us.

Generally speaking, Live In is a school activity/event where students of the grade have to Live outside of their homes and In a foreign environment of the school’s choosing. Learning how to live simply but harmoniously with the people around them. Students are expected to be able to fend for themselves and help those in need during the activity.

This activity is expected to be held from the 29th of February to the 4th of March. Of which the students will take off the dusk and come back the dawn. Students are reminded again to inform their parents regarding the timings, as to not shock them the day of pick up.

After a great opening, the mic was handed to Pak Evan. Which he started the main part of the meeting. He talked about ‘The Rules Of Conduct’ we have to follow during the activity, as well as explaining ‘What We Require’ to bring along on the activity.

Some of The Rules that stood out to us the most are:

- Teachers are to collect all electronics or devices of communication from students and to return to them at the end of the activity.

- Students are required to bring a maximum of Rp. 30.000 during Live In. Any more than stated must be held by a teacher and will be returned at the end of the activity.

- Students are required to bring some money for donation, placed inside an envelope.

- Students are required to study The Village’s culture, language, and ethics with the purpose of better understanding and minimalizing miscommunication.

- Each House Team is required to bring a souvenir in the form of a blanket to present to our "new" parents, with a minimum cost of Rp. 150,000.

After the explanation from Pak Evan, students are given time to ask questions about the meeting. Many students are brave to rise their hands and ask, varying from luggage worries to health concerns. Of which the teachers happily answered them all with clear intentions and explanations.

Time struck 14.35 PM, students are permitted to take their personal devices and leave the school or continue to their afterschool activities. Of course, not before praying and ending the meeting. (Lilin, X.3)
